Wales strengthened its team of coaches before the six nations with the addition of former pillar Adam Jones as a Scrum consultant.
The much appreciated Jones joined the Warren Gatland team on detachment from the Harlequins, where he contributed to the development of a certain number of leading rowers since the end of his player career at the club in 2018.
The 43 -year -old won 95 selections in Wales as an accessory and joined his former coach while Gatland is looking for improvements on the field after a 2024 without victory.
Andy McCann, specialist in psychology and human performance, also returns for the tournament after working within the organization between 2009 and 2017.
“I am delighted that Adam and Andy join us for the Guinness Six Nations and I would like to thank the Harlequins for having allowed Adam to seize this opportunity,” said Gatland.
“Less than two weeks in our first match against France in Paris, we will work hard in a group to optimize our preparation and start our campaign in style.”
Jones participated in five tests for the British and Irish lions during an illustrious player career and will work in close collaboration with attackers Jonathan Humphreys.
An independent exam was organized by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) after a month of November without a victory which extended the sequence of international defeats in Wales to a record of 12 games.
The director general of WRU, Abi Tierney, said in December, after the end of the exam, that Gatland would keep his post for the six nations, but that his behind the scenes would be reinforced.
“First of all, I would like to thank the Harlequins for the opportunity to join the Wales Coaches for the Six Nations,” said Jones.
“I can’t wait to work with Gats [Warren Gatland] and Humphs [Jonathan Humphreys]Who are two great influences on my player career.
“Everything was quick but I can’t wait to be there.
“It will be a challenge to come from the Première Gallagher and this is my first experience as an international rugby coach, so there will be a learning process for me too.”
