Keely Hodgkinson, fresh out of the crowned sporting personality of the year, is preparing to break the world record of 800 meters in the short term during an inaugural event called “Keely Klassic” on February 15. The existing record of 1: 55.82 was established by Jolanda Ceplak of Slovenia on March 3, 2002 – by coincidence, the same day Hodgkinson was born.

The 800 -meter Olympic gold medalist revealed plans for the event, selected to be at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, following her spotted award. During the ceremony, his mentors, Trevor Painter and Jenny Meadows, also received the coach of the year.

“I am more excited to announce the Keely Klassic, my first race on track since I became Olympic champion,” said Hodgkinson enthusiastically.

“This event is to bring energy, passion and high-level athletics to fans. It will be an unforgettable experience for all those involved, with some of the best athletes in the United Kingdom in competition and an accent particular on the 800m.

“I am also delighted to try to beat the world record – it is an opportunity for me to get my career to the higher level while giving back to the sport that gave me so much.”

Forcing a personal record of 1: 57.18 in the distance – which represents a national record – established last year in the final of Birmingham World Indoor Tour, the previous 22 -year season was interrupted after Paris due to a “Small injury”.

The Keely Klassic was confirmed as a bronze world meeting in the athletics room and is scheduled for the week before the British indoor championships in the same place. The list of the event on the Utilita Arena website boasts that the day will star “Marquee British Track and Field Stars joining Keely to compete in various athletics disciplines” and promises to offer “unique immersive experience for fans “.

Keely Hodgkinson is not the only athlete – or winner of the sports personality of the year (spoty) – to organize an event during the tour of next year. Armand Duplantis, the Vaulter of the Swedish pole who broke the world records and won the price of the World Sport Star of the Year on Tuesday evening, should welcome his pole jump gala `Mondo Classic ” to the fourth Uppsala occurrence in March, marking its fourth occurrence.

It was a monumental year for Hodgkinson at the professional level – but her last announcement shows that she is as interesting as ever to take her career as a runner runner at new heights.
