The PGA Tour event in Los Angeles, the Genesis Invitational, was moved to the Torrey Pines golf course in San Diego, the organizers announced on Friday.

The tournament, organized by Tiger Woods, was to take place from February 13 to 16 at the Riviera Country Club, near the fire of Pacific Palisades.

The tour and the event decided last week to change places due to the impact of fires on the local community.

Riviera has not undergone any damage during fires, but is just within the limits of the compulsory evacuation zone which forced the inhabitants to flee the disaster.

The event, which will take place on the southern route of Torrey Pines, will participate in a number of rescue efforts in response to the impact of fires.

“We are grateful to the city of San Diego and Torrey Pines for welcoming the Genesis Invitational 2025, as well as all those who supported the tournament,” said Woods.

“Although Riviera remains the headquarters of the Genesis Invitational, we are impatient to play on another golf course of caliber championship this year and to use the tournament to support people affected by fires in the Los Angeles region,” said -It added.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said the event is focused on the aid to the communities affected by fires.

“As we have seen in the past two weeks, sport can be a great diversion, but also a way to unify people even more for a common cause,” said Monahan.

“Underline the resilience of Los Angeles and the need for continuous support for current recovery efforts is what our collective teams work with the course of Genesis Invitational in Torrey Pines,” he added.

The Farmers Insurance Open of the Tour is currently playing in Torrey Pines.

The game of the first round on the picturesque site overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the Jolla was interrupted for a little less than two hours Thursday after powerful gusts made the course unplayable.
