An international rugby league fled the United Kingdom after being accused of sexual offenses, including rape, would have heard a court say.
Keven Appo, 25, who played for Bradford Bulls in the Betfred championship before being dismissed on Friday, apparently went to his country of origin, Papua-Nouvelle-Guinée.
Appo was to appear in the Bradford court of first instance on Monday morning, but did not attend and the court told Sky News that a mandate without surety had been issued.
THE Bbc indicated that the court had learned that he had gone for Dubai of Manchester airport and had taken a connection flight to the Papua New Guinea only a few hours after receiving a conditional deposit during a hearing in November.
THE Bradford Telegraph and Argus reported that magistrates were informed that he had fled the country within five hours of his charge.
An extradition process has now started to bring it back to Britain, said the BBC, the prosecutor Fiona Newcombe.
She told the court that Appo gave the club director his house and car keys, and that the British authorities would now work with the police in Papua New Guinea to bring him back, added the BBC.
On Friday, West Yorkshire police said in a statement: “A man from Calderdale was accused of several sexual offenses.
