Miguel Almirón left Newcastle and flies for the United States to sign for his former Atlanta club for around 9.5 million pounds sterling.

The Paraguayan winger accepted personal conditions and, subject to a medical will, he signed for the team he left six years ago. Newcastle manager at the time, Rafael Benítez, was delighted to acquire Almirón for 21 million pounds sterling in 2019 and his stay in Tyneside was widely successful.

The 30 -year -old attacking midfielder has fallen into disgrace this season, having started only one Premier League match for the Eddie Howe team, but turned out to be an integral part of the team that assured the Qualification in the Champions League during the 2022-23 season. Almirón made 223 appearances for Newcastle, scoring 30 goals. On Saturday, he left the replacement bench in St Mary’s to make his poignant farewell during the 3-1 victory against Southampton.

Last season, Almirón aroused the interest of Charlotte, another MLS club, as well as teams from Saudi Arabia, but chose to stay in England. However, the player has now concluded a four and a half year contract with Atlanta, making it an extremely attractive decision for a player whose contract in Newcastle was to last until June 2026.

Howe has mainly deployed Almirón on the right wing and will be sad to see a popular member of his locker room leaving a team missing in depth offensive. Although the club’s recruitment team was busy looking for rights – with Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford among those observed on several occasions – it is believed that the need to comply with the rules of profit and sustainability (PSR) of the Premier League dictates that the board of directors of St James’ Park is unlikely to do so. Sanction any significant investment in the transfer market until summer.

While Harvey Barnes is sidelined due to injury for the next fifteen days, the departure of Almirón leaves Howe with only two specialized senior wingers, Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa and the Wolves wish to recruit the defender of Chelsea Axel Disasi. The French international no longer has the favor of Stamford Bridge and could be authorized to leave before the transfer window next month.

Villa and the Wolves are looking for defensive reinforcements. Wolves also turn to the Lensois defender Kevin Danso. Villa lack of central rear after sold Diego Carlos in Fenerbahce and lost Tyrone Mings and Pau Torres on injury.

It is expected that Disasi, who also arouses the interest of European clubs, is favorable to a move to Villa if they manage to conclude an agreement with Chelsea. The 26 -year -old would have the opportunity to play football regularly and to compete for a club in the Champions League.

Disasi, who has not convinced since he joined Chelsea from Monaco 18 months ago, only carried out four league starts this season. He does not adapt to the play style of Enzo Maresca and has trouble meeting the requirements of the Italian to play from the back. Disasi, who can play on the right back or at the central back, is not one of the long -term projects in Maresca.

The writing was on the wall for Disasi when Chelsea recalled Trevoh Chalobah of his loan to Crystal Palace. Chelsea decided to act after losing Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana due to injuries to the hamstrings. Chalobah started alongside Levi Colwill in the last two Chelsea matches.
