Sifan Hassan said on Monday that the London marathon was “in my heart” while she was preparing to go back to the scene of an extraordinary start in the distance two years ago.
The Dutch athlete, born in Ethiopia, marked his first marathon by winning the race in 2023 in London with an amazing display.
Hassan triumphed despite the stop in the streets of the British capital twice and drags the 28 -second leader at a given time.
The 32 -year -old has since proven that victory was not a stroke of luck, winning gold at the Paris Olympic Games from last year in a female record match of two hours, 22 minutes and 55 seconds – A feat that she reached barely 36 hours after taking bronze for 10,000 meters.
Now Hassan, who has not participated in the London 2024 marathon, is looking forward to returning to a course full of happy memories when this year’s edition will be held on April 27.
“If you look back, London is in my heart,” she told journalists. “It’s incredible, it’s almost a bit like Paris.
“I thought I don’t know what I’m going to do, but sometimes it’s a miracle, sometimes a miracle occurs.”
She added: “I was so afraid of the marathon, contemplating:” I’m going to finish, it’s going to hurt, what’s going to happen? “. Everyone will say:” Oh, she’s not good, why did she try that? ‘. “
Hassan won three Olympic medals at Tokyo 2020, taking gold at 5,000 m and 10,000 m as in bronze in 1500m and added to his collection with three others in Paris, including bronze in 5000m.
But she always has career objectives that she wants to achieve before the 2028 matches in Los Angeles.
“I want to run four marathons in a year, four major marathons,” said Hassan. “I want to see how far I can go.”
