Anthony Watson was forced to withdraw from rugby for medical land at the age of 30.
The wing won 56 caps for England over almost a decade internationally and filmed twice with the British and Irish lions, starting five tests in 2017 and 2021.
Watson fought more and more with injuries, however, the 2023 World Cup after undergoing a calf problem before the tournament that was appointed to the Steve Barthwick team.
He has since dealt with Achilles and Back problems, appearing only five times for Leicester Tigers this season, and made the decision to move away from sport.
“My global feeling is pride,” Watson said, who spent nine years in Bath after piercing with London Irish. “I am proud and blessed to have done what I did throughout my career; For having represented my family, my country and two of the largest clubs in the country.
“When I started, I wanted to make my father more than anyone who is proud, I wanted to play for England and the lions with my parents in the crowd and, in the end, I wanted to share a moment with my children on the ground. I can say that I did all these things.
Watson made his debut in England against New Zealand in 2014 and appeared in two World Cups, starting the final defeat against South Africa in 2019.
Its latest international appearance occurred in the defeat of the warm -up against Ireland in August 2023. Its count of 23 trials in a shirt in England is the highest eighth for a male international.
“Anthony must be congratulated on an incredibly successful career,” said England coach Steve Barthwick. “I was lucky to have trained Anthony at the same time at Leicester Tigers and England. He is a humble and hardworking professional man who is universally loved and admired in the game.
“Anthony not only brought his incredible talent to the England shirt every time he played, but he was also a player who was extreme the team of England.
Watson seems likely to continue to play a key role in the game after being appointed member of the board of directors of Team England Rugby (TER), the embezzlement group that has taken responsibility – and has received recognition – to negotiate in the Name of the England team with Rugby Football Union after the senior men’s team ended their relationship with Rugby Players Association (RPA).
