A highly produced British golfer has been appointed Golf Performance Coach of Somerset School.
Lee Corfield, who played in the 2011 open championship and represented Somerset, England and Great Britain at all levels, joined Taunton School.
He is about to improve the school golf supply with his knowledge, skills and experience.
Its role will involve providing specialized training, individual lessons, group sessions and tournament support.
Lee expressed his enthusiasm by saying: “I am absolutely delighted to be part of the Taunton school community.
“We have incredible players here and I can’t wait to support their growth in skills and talents, while passing the layout at the upper level.”
Lee’s successful career of gaming saw him win the prestigious Lytham trophy, several Cups of the Nations and the West England Championship on several occasions.
He also obtained a position as a finalist in the British amateur championship in St. Andrews.
His expertise extends beyond the game because he holds a diploma in a professional golf course and is the principal coach of Somerset Girls in Burnham & Berrow Golf Club, also working with the Somerset Seniors team.
Daniel Pettifer, director of sport at Taunton School, said: “We are very happy to have a player and a lee capacity and experience coach to direct golf supply to Taunton school.
“The quality of Lee coaching, associated with our new golf simulator on site, will make a huge difference for the development of our students.”
In recent years, Taunton School has widened its golf supply and has seen its students compete in county and national tournaments.
The school recently installed an indoor golf simulator, thanks to a generous donation from an old Tauntonian, to help players practice their skills and their techniques.
